Welcome to the Friends of Sefton Youth Jazz Web site. SYJO’s 22nd year Sefton Youth Jazz Orchestra SYJO and Sefton Youth Jazz Ensemble SYJE Two ensembles run by Sefton Music Support Service. Come and Play - Open Rehearsal for prospective new players Monday 14 April Sefton Youth Jazz Orchestra was first formed in 1985. As members of the band the young musicians from Sefton schools improve their skills and perform regularly. Go to the news page for the National Festival regional audition certificate and remarks. National Festival Music for Youth - SYJO reached National Festival and gained a Highly Commended Award for playing ‘Invisible Dances’ Birmingham July 15 2005
In 1994 the Sefton youth Jazz Ensemble was begun as a training band for SYJO but has now established itself as another of Sefton’s Youth Ensembles. Both bands now perform under the Sefton Youth Jazz logo. At this site, you will find information about the bands and how the ‘Friends’ help to support them.
